| Education in Ludhiana |
|
To be very candid, the general standard of education in Punjab is comparatively lower than most of the other parts of the nation – especially the eastern and the southern part of the country. With an intension to provide quality education the education minister Harman Dass Johar has inaugurated a new building of Nishkam Vidya Mandir that is being run by the NGO Nishkam Seva Ashram. Initiative had also been taken to fill up almost 35000 vacant teachers’ posts all over the state of Punjab. With a view to upgrade the infrastructure of the education system, especially in the rural part of Ludhiana, an expense as much as 6 crores has been incurred solely in the district of Ludhiana alone. The scopes for the higher studies are comparatively better. The Lovely School of Higher Studies situated on the location of Jalandhar-Ludhiana GT Road is aiming at the construction of strong foundation in the varied disciplines of commerce, fine arts, science, physiotherapy, and most significantly biotechnology. The Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, whish is recognized by the Medical Council of India, is one of the leading medical colleges in the North India. This is an educational and research institution that is being run by the minority Christian community of Ludhiana. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College of Ludhiana is another glaring name in the aspect of education – especially in the northern part of India. There are other technical institutions that aim at giving higher educations such as MBA, MCA and etc. Education regarding Information Technology is also another vital development in the educational aspect in Ludhiana, but those are not up to the mark as compared to the southern and eastern part of the nation. |
