Ludhiana History
It is no exaggeration to say that Ludhiana is a place of beauty. The sprawling historical beauty of Ludhiana has desperately captured the fancy of huge number of people not only from India but also from all the corners of the world.

One thing is very sure that with its age-old history and rich cultural background, Ludhiana is one of the few top business spots in India. As a matter of fact Ludhiana has almost more than 500 years of culture, history and civilization, the root of which will take us to the reign of lodhi dynasty that existed between 1451 to 1526 AD. Nihand Khan, who was empowered by Sikandar Lodhi, was the person who had founded Ludhiana after the departure of his colleague Yusaf Khan to Jalandhar.

The history of present Ludhiana spans a long way back to 1481, when it was a small village known as Meer Hota. The territory initially used to be governed by the Yodhas ranging from the 1st to the 4th Century. Later it went under the rule of King Samudragupta and Rajputs. It was a long time later – the 9th century – that original Ludhianvis came into being. Much later the different races of Punjabis like Grewals, Sandhus, Sidhus and Gills appeared.

The presence of beautiful Gurudwaras and temples not only made it a place of cultural heritage, but also a place of beauty. On the other hand, the 500 years old Fort of Lodhi that was built by the Muslim king Sikander Lodhi adds to the beauty of the place.
