Ludhiana itself is basically a historical city that was founded during the reign of Lodhi Dynasty ranging from 1451 to 1526 AD. Sikandar Lodhi had to depute two chiefs Yusaf Khan and Nihand Khan for the purpose of maintaining and restoring the law and order in the region. Later Yusaf Khan, sailed across the river Sutlej in Jalandhar, while the other chief had stayed back and founded a city what is known as Ludhiana today. This made the city itself very important. Moreover the Baddowal-Aliwal battles of the first anglo-sikh war have also delivered an immense historical significance to the city. The Phillaur Fort, which was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh is one of the most important point of the city. Only about 80 km from Ludhiana lays another the historical spot called Sangrur. Although not a perfect spot for the tourists, this place has got some historical importance. The Guru Dwaras and the temples at Sangrur have got special significance to the religious section of the society. Ludhiana is basically a cultural spot that have ensured a high standard, fashionable and cultured life style. Ludhiana is the most populated metropolitan city of Punjab.
